Q: What’s your background and what inspired you to start EliteMate.com?
A: I came from owning a dieting fresh food delivery service called ‘Zone Diet Fresh Food Delivery Service”. We did really well and were on TV. Then we sold out the company and decided that we are going to get into the dating business. And in 2001 we’ve started Elitemate.com. We had to build a foundation, and we did most of it offline, by doing testing calls for the next TV commercial we were going to do, because I was in a TV business with an actual dieting company. And all the people that showed up for the casting call – we took their picture, had their video – pretty much had all their information. At the same time we signed them all up to Elitemate free lifetime membership.
Q: How many people do you have in your team?
A: Right now I have all in all - with techs and everybody else - 52 people.
Q: How long did it take you to grow this company?
A: In 2002 we were maybe doing couple of hundred people a day, 2003-2004 we started building it a little bit more in a high hundreds, 2005-2007 in thousands, 2007-2008 – into low thousands, like 10000 people a day.
Q: Can you name some partners, with whom you worked or planning to work?
A: The people we are working to increase their membership base on our registration path are AmateurMatch, SexSearch, OnlyForLove, YouLoveMe, OKCupid. We have Double Your Dating which is Hot Topic Media – dating tips, we also have Christian Café, Eroticy, and coming down the pike Naughty and Nice – and always negotiating with more and more people.
Q: Could you suggest a few tricks and tips to the beginners how they can attract and convert the traffic, any mistakes to avoid, etc.?
A: Absolutely. Internet is mostly about people coming to a specific URL and filling out the information or taking some type of action – and then you go into another URL. So it’s one URL at a time. The most important URL is the actual landing page. There is an actual short style information with an image maybe on the left, registration on the right or registration on the left, image on the right – it doesn’t make the difference as long as it looks good, it’s not too over cumbersome to your eye – and that can be the homepage. It is really your first step in helping to service your client – it’s to have them register. So you’ll have more information to help you and you’ll be able to get the client to take the action immediately when they come to your site and filling out the information immediately. Because the chances are they don’t need to read anything more about you, they are really interested because they are coming from search engines or email creative or banner – and they are already interested! They are already coming your way, so let them start filling out the data immediately.
