Dear Yvonne,

I came across your website recently, which I found to be extremely insightful and informative, especially concerning some of the pitfalls of internet dating.

I have been happily internet dating for approximately 2 years. However, I recently met, and had a brief relationship with, a man who goes by the pseudonym of TheOneAmigo, through a well known site, run by Fairfax Newspapers; he lives quietly and simply with his artist sister, in the mountains of southeast QLD, with little more than the clothes on his back, apparently most of which were purchased for him, by another female dater like myself.

Beneath a charming, affable, friendly exterior, lies a penniless, solitary, shrewd, cunning, amoral, smooth operator, who is trawling dating sites searching for wealthy divorcees, with whom to fulfill his sexual fantasies, and fund the lavish life-style, he so craves.
.
TheOneAmigo claims to be very clever, without ego, and have a background in acting, spying and psychology- all very useful credentials, I am sure you would agree, for a con artist, no less- and totally lacking in care for others.

A red flag went up, when I became suspicious of his intentions, so I ended the relationship immediately- mercifully, in the nick of time. I could no longer ignore the inconsistencies or signs of sociopathic behaviour: cheating, lying, controlling, being overly sexual, and even trying to manipulate my way of thinking.

Thank you for warning your readers, that they, too, could fall prey to this type of person, and making them aware, that these people exist in all walks of life.

I look forward to reading Love, Sex and Lies.

Yours,

Margy.

Being relatively new to the scene I am starting to hear about all the horror stories about romance scams and credit card fraud. It's a real shame. In signing up for certain dating affiliate sites, a lot of them state in their terms that the above countries you mentioned do not qualify to participate in the programs.

My dating directory provides users with information about certain dating sites. Is there a blacklist for certain dating or matrimonial sites out there. I would like to share this with my visitors.

Thanks

I just wrote a book "Making Dollar$ and Cent$ Out Of Online Dating and it talks about the problems I had when I signed on to a White Label Dating Site with credit card fraud. I am now with a different hosting site and have not have any problems, so far.

Hi Yvonne Rice,

Yes I have a dating site. I fight the scamers off block blocking thier ip from accessing my site. I do it with a range too. The best is block it by country,
http://www.blockacountry.com/

they make it easier, try it out.

Cant wait around for government to do this..
